It was almost destined to happen….
I was just starting to think I had turned the medical corner after my hip replacement surgery and BAM not so much. I mean my hip is doing much better but a couple of days ago I started feeling yucky then yesterday happened…
I was so cold that I was taking hot showers for 25 minutes at a time just to get warm, then my throat starting hurting and hurting bad. I took my temp and it said 101.6 and figured it was time to go to the clinic. My surgeon had said to keep an eye on my temperature and if it got to high to go in as it might mean an infection, so last night i went in..
First thing they did was swab my throat which because of my gag reflex initiated me spitting up all over myself..how embarrassing. So then in a few minutes the doctor comes in with a mask and says “Congratulations, you are rare!” I’m like ok….what’s the verdict and he proceeded to tell me I have strep throat. He said I was rare because in only 5 to 10 percent of adults your age do we find strep throat. I’m like why don’t I have those odds when I play the lottery….
In any case, he ordered a shot into my hip (the non surgical one) and has me on some pretty strict meds for the next 2 weeks. I do feel better today as my fever as gone down but my throat is still very sore. The problem I have is this though….
Why am I getting something so rare…..My wife says its because my immune system is down after my surgery so I could catch anything at this point. Which does make sense but my mind goes other places. What is there is a bigger issue? I have always been pretty healthy so what if this is the start of a new trend of sickness….Just reminds me of my mortality I guess…..
Anyway, thought I would share the latest with all of you. Please continue to keep me in your prayers as I continue down this journey of mine.
Peace and Grace,
