Hello again friends, I hope your Friday is going well. I just got out of work and on the way home God gave me something that I knew I had to share with all of you. Per usual, it might ruffle a few feathers so hold on….
Question: As a believer in Christ, who do you most hang around with? What type of person? Are they someone that cusses alot? Are they gay or transgender? Someone that holds a “left wing” view of things? What about someone that had committed a crime perhaps? I’ll give you a minute to think about it…
If I could be like God for a few minutes and know everything about everyone at the exact same time, I think I would discover that most of us as believers do not make it a practice to associate ourselves with people that fit the above descriptions. Interesting thing though about that and this is what God wanted me to share the most…
Jesus answered, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.” Hmmm so in order to do that would He not have had to not only seek these types of people out but in fact spend time with them in order to demonstrate His love and Good News? In fact, if we study the Scriptures thoroughly, you will find that Jesus spent considerably more time with the “outcasts” of the time then with His own disciples! Can we say the same thing?
If you check out social media, you will soon discover a big breakdown once again from what Jesus called us to do here. People calling themselves Christians making all kinds of slanderous name calling towards people like I described above. Do you really think that will bring them to the Good News of Jesus Christ? Oh wait, maybe that is not what we want at all! We simply want to label ourselves as Christians but not live by Jesus’ example. Because after all we know better…….
Friends, I know its hard to hang around folks that clearly resent our faith. The evil in this world gets more powerful every day. But you know what will ALWAYS be more powerful? God’s love! If we are not showing that love to “even the least of these” then, well, you are playing for the wrong side. This Easter, stop playing church and BE the church. Don’t CONFORM but instead have COMPASSION and LOVE; you might just be surprised at the change you start seeing….
We ALL fall short…..
