“But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him? Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.”- (1 John 3:17-18)
Good morning everyone and welcome to the weekend! Yesterday was the unofficial start to my weekend as I took a much needed day off and spent it with my Bride. It was so nice being able to spend the day with just her and do some things we have not done in a while. Please continue to keep her in you prayers as our insurance is being a butt about paying for some medication she really needs. Calls are out to the doctor, however, I know that prayer is much more effective. Thank you!
“Are We Really?” What do I mean by that? Well, the other day we had a dear friend stop by with some homemade chicken soup for Marcy and just to see how she was doing. It was the FIRST time ANYONE that claims to be a friend of ours has stopped by to see how she was doing. At first I was angry; you claim to be our friend but she almost dies a month ago and everyone’s schedule is too busy to stop by and check on her? I mean is Facebook really the acceptable way of doing that now?
We were so grateful for the visit and ever since it got me thinking; when we say we are followers of Christ, are we really? What does it say about any of us if we have a “friend” that is so busy they can’t take 5 minutes to check on someone in person. I wonder if Jesus had Facebook if His ministry would have gone that route? Something tells me no. I am just as guilty as anyone of this, but it really hit home. I mean I can see if it was me; I tend to push people away with my personality but HER? The one person that gives so selflessly to everyone? ONE person?
When I get like that Jesus always reminds me that even He only had 12 disciples, should it be a shock when things like this happen? I just get tired of the hypocrisy I guess…Don’t sit there on social media and say how much you care but can’t be bothered to visit or heck even use the cell phone and call. But yet we go to Church every Sunday without fail and play the game, but are we really followers of Christ?
The above Scripture is very telling..There are a few different applications of this verse but basically it calls us out to put up or shut up. (See why I don’t have any friends? Lol!) It tells us that words are meaningless without action; even goes as far to say if we don’t help others in need and we are able, God’s love is really not inside us! Game changing stuff is it not? Church on Sunday but ignore those in need? Hmmmmm.
Listen, this isn’t a pity party for my bride and I because at the end of the day we will always have each other and most importantly always have God, but do me a favor today and let the above verse really sink in. Why is it exactly that you call yourself a Christ follower? Because you said some words and know some Scripture? Even Satan knows the Scriptures…..God calls us to die to ourselves; have you? What have you really done for others lately? What more could you really do? Or are you content with only worrying about yourself? Make no mistake, God is watching…..
If you are reading this, thank you again Roxanne and Joe for showing the Fischer family what being a Christ follower truly looks like; we are forever grateful for you.
In His Light,
