Break The Chains

Good Sunday morning everyone. I would start off this morning for asking for your prayers. As many of you know I had a total Hip Replacement surgery preformed almost a full year ago. The surgery was a definite success in terms of fixing my badly damaged hip. However, for reasons which are still not totally clear, my healing has been slow in terms of the muscles and tendons that were cut and maneuvered to perform the surgery. Some days are ok, then I had a day like yesterday where the pain is so bad I just want to give up. So, please keep me in your prayers that a true healing would begin and I can have that portion of my life back. Thank you!

Breaking those chains….Is this not the toughest part of our walk with Jesus? Those chains represent so many different things for everyone; some have issues with drugs, depression, porn, gluttony, materialistic things, you name it the chains are there. Sometimes I think some false preaching makes it worse because there is this notion that the minute you come to Christ, all is done and you will never suffer from any of this again. Anyone ever heard that before? I know I did and it really frustrated me as to why I wasn’t getting better; or at least why it didn’t all go away.

What frustrates me even more is when I hear people say, “Your just not reading your Bible enough” or “Your faith just isn’t strong enough”. While those statements might be true, when someone is suffering the last thing they want to hear is how its all their fault. Amen? So, with that said, how do we truly break free of those chains. Despite the teachings of some misinformed folks, it really comes down to these two verses:

1. John 8:36- “36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed”

If you have come to Christ as Savior, while your ailments may not be instantly removed, you know have the ABILITY to break free from those chains. Before Christ you were a slave to sin and had no other choice. With Jesus in your corner, you can now accomplish things that previously were impossible. With that said it will still take some work on your part; which leads me to number 2.

2. Romans 12:2- “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–his good, pleasing and perfect will”

Embedded in this verse is a hidden mystery that most miss; we say it all the time but yet until we really examine it, one can miss it and therefore change the way we view it. “Be transformed by the renewING of your mind. RENEWING! By God using that word in that way, it tells us that it is an ONGOING process, not just done once! We must always be in the process of renewing our minds and thoughts. I can tell you from personal experience that the minute you let up, Satan is there ready to insert his evil and frustrate you to no end.

Friends, we can break those chains and break them forever. First we must be set free with a choice that makes Jesus Christ our Savior and Redeemer. Then we must follow His directions on how to make your life truly changed. Amen? God never said that once we come to Him we just sit back and let God control us like puppets. His Spirit will be upon us and He is there for us, but God is still a gentleman and will only act when you invite Him to do so. This requires work on our part folks. We have so many things in our lives that we make a priority and make time for; if you are suffering from any of those things I listed before, is this not something that should be at the top of your priority list?

Break Those Chains my friends and not only break them but through Christ make the chain go away and never come back! Have a great Sunday and for those that know me well, FINS UP!!

With Agape Love,

  1. You’re right, renewing the mind is SO important! For me, it’s confirming the truth, whether or not I FEEL it. (My emotions can be the greatest hindrance.) Emotions can confirm the truth, but God’s Truth stands on its own and needs no confirmation from me or anyone else! Just speaking that out loud “resets” my mind to focus on Him, not my temporary (unreliable) feelings.
