“Lessons From Thomas The Train” By Casey Treat
When Julius said to me, “Big Red, you can change,” I really didn’t know if I could. I wanted to. I hated the life I was living and was ashamed of who I was, but I didn’t know if I actually could change. I saw the way my parents lived, and I thought that was all that was ahead of me. I didn’t know if I could have a loving marriage. I didn’t know if I could have a job I enjoyed. I doubted every positive scripture and message I heard.
I say that because you might be in that same place or you may know someone who is in that spot right now. The Bible doesn’t make these claims to mock us. The Bible doesn’t say that we are strong and able to live victorious lives purely to poke fun at our insecurities and inadequacies. The Bible tells us these things because we are able! You may not fully believe me yet, but you can change. You can go a day without being angry, or swearing, or going to the bottle for solace. It may seem impossible now, but just like that little blue engine that could, you can do more than you think because you have more than enough on the inside of you empowering you and strengthening you to win.
Renewal Thought: God has given you strength and boldness on the inside of you! You are able to win with God on your side. The greatest source of strength lives in you, and that power is yours for the taking. Even through our unbelief, keep trusting that you are able.
Prayer: Thank you, God, for the spirit of power, love and a sound mind. I pray the spirit of fear will have no place in my life. You did not give me a spirit of fear, so I refuse to be controlled by it. I pray Your power and love will lead me and all I do. My life, my spouse, and my children are free from fear; we walk in the Spirit of God.
