Matthew 3:2- “Repent! For the Kingdom is at hand”
Happy Sunday friends! Again its good to be back. This little cold of mine just does not want to go away but carry on I will. Please continue to keep this family in your prayers as the Enemy is doing everything he can in his limited power to hurt us and keep us down. What he doesn’t realize is that through Christ we are Warriors and while we may get knocked down from time to time, we have already won the war. Same goes for all of you that know Jesus as Savior today, Amen?
Repenting…that is a word in the Bible that means a lot of different things in a lot of different ways depending on the context in which it is used. The main one that I hope at least everyone agrees on is that when you ask Jesus to be your Savior and live for Him, you must confess your sins and “turn around” from them to lead a different life. Despite false teaching to the contrary that does not mean you will never sin again, it simply means that those things which you had no choice to engage in before, you now have the choice to turn away from because Jesus has broken the chains of slavery. Amen?
The other meaning, which is less taught in most churches these days, is that repentance is an ongoing event and if done correctly can expose you to the Kingdom that Jesus was talking about in His ministry. Many people confuse the Lord’s return with the “Kingdom being at hand”. Some think Jesus and His disciples thought He would return before that generation passed away but what He was really saying was that through a daily, true repentant heart, the Kingdom of Heaven can be yours right now! Does that mean that you can be perfect here? No, but Jesus left us clues about a way we can live right now that will provide a new level of hope, understanding, and love that most believers will never experience until we get to Heaven.
So today we all have a choice; we can repent to be forgiven (which is the first step in our relationship with Christ) and stop there, OR we can repent daily heck even sometimes hourly and see a whole new world exposed to us. I so strive to get to that point in my walk with Jesus; I have been there a few times only to allow the Enemy to knock me back down. What is your choice today? Are you satisfied with being forgiven or do you want to be forgiven AND carry out a important mission from God? As always the choice is yours friends! Have a great Sunday!
