I feel my Enemy all around me;
The darkness is closing in;
Like quicksand in the desert
I fear I see the end.
Jesus my Lord where are you?
Alone with my thoughts I sit.
In the Enemy’s grasp I find myself,
Being pulled into a fiery pit.
I feel my Enemy all around me;
The darkness is closing in;
Like quicksand in the desert
I fear I see the end.
Jesus my Lord where are you?
Alone with my thoughts I sit.
In the Enemy’s grasp I find myself,
Being pulled into a fiery pit.
What is this? Are you literally experiencing this David? And why?

If folks don’t like my writing and my honesty, there are plenty of other blogs where you will find your version of truth. No one leads a perfect life and we have all found ourselves in a hole from time to time. I write what I do even in the dark times so people don’t feel so alone. God is good all the time and all the time God is good. And oh BTW the Scriptures are filled with strong followers of Christ writing about their times of despair….. that is all.

A little intro would have been a nice touch. Not too many mind readers out here. Just saying.

Well, again, its my writing style and the way I feel. Not to mention there are others that have commented with encouragement and support so apparently being a “mind reader” is not required. Good day sir.

Yes, it is dark, but it is common, and yes, even to a Christian. Peter is a good example. Sometimes we are blissfully (dangerously) unaware of the dark side of the pull, and sometimes we are excrutiatingly aware. That doesn’t mean Christ is not there, or that the situation is hopeless. It means we are weak and we are human. Amy Carmichael used to look out at her Ghatt mountains (from which she drew strength) and one day she couldn’t see them for the fog of cloud and mist. But she knew they were still there and that the clouds would lift. Good post, great question, and because of Christ, great answer in Psalm 139.

The LORD is My Rock
…27For You save an afflicted people, but You humble those with haughty eyes. 28For You, O LORD, light my lamp; my God enlightens my darkness. 29For in You I can charge an army, and with my God I can scale a wall.… Psalm 18:27-29
