What Are We Pursuing?

Spiritual Warfare is real; defend yourself accordingly

Good Saturday Morning friends! I did it! Two Saturday’s in a row I am writing in my blog. I really want to get back to writing more but baby steps ya know? I hope and pray everyone had a good week and is able to take a couple of days of down time and relax.

This week coming up is going to be a big one for yours truly; more to come on that. 🙂

Come, all you who are thirsty,
come to the waters;
and you who have no money,
come, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk
without money and without cost.
Why spend money on what is not bread,
and your labor on what does not satisfy?
Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good,
and you will delight in the richest of fare.
– Isaiah 55:1-2

What are you pursuing?

As I was reading my morning devotional, I knew that I had to write about this passage. Today, more than ever, we need to be focused on what is truly important. For so long, we have been focused on things such as money, careers, “the hustle”, and yes even the nasty cuss word right now politics. All the while we have pretty much put God on the shelf.

Oh yes we will do our morning devotionals, go to church, heck we might even fill our social media posts with timely and feel good messages. But are we pursuing Him? What are we pursuing in His place? Do we have any wonder why we always feel frustrated with our lives?

Today I am here to tell you that God wants us to pursue Him full-time! Not just for a few minutes every morning, but in all times and in all circumstances. As the above passage shows us, why spend all of our pursuit on things that only provide temporary strength? Why spend our money on things that will bring us no joy (or only temporary joy). Pursue the things of God and He will provide “the finest food” and all for FREE. (At least for us- It was not free for Jesus)

One final example, for all you gym rats out there? How much time did you put in to making your body healthier and looking better? (Not that there is anything wrong with exercise and eating right-save the hate mail). Now, how much time did you put into making your relationship with God healthier and stronger? I think for all of us the answer is that we spent more time on situation one. And yet we still wonder why we stay frustrated and never satisfied……Making sense?

Friends, I’m not saying to stay in your prayer closet 24/7 and not live your life (although these days that isn’t such a bad idea). We still have to work, exercise, and do the things God has called us to do, but we can still do all those things for HIM. We can make sure that we are not in it for OURSELVES but for HIM. You know who else was all about themselves? Lucifer; and we all see how that turned out….

Start today pursuing our first real love; Jesus Christ. Give Him your all and so all things through Him. Amen? I pray you have a blessed day and please, leave your thoughts and comments below. I would love to hear from you! Also, if your a Twitter peep; follow me at @Gods_Warrior91.

In His Glory,

David

  1. This is a very encouraging and uplifting blog post brother David. May we continue to pursue God for ourselves and help our other brothers & sisters to stay focused as well. We truly so need each other to get to the finish line. Thank you for ur labor of love David. GBU🙏🏼♥️☺️

  2. Thank you for the encouragement. Much needed in today’s world. Satan is always right there and takes advantage of any tiny opportunity when we let our guard down-drift away from our close relationship with the Lord. Everything around us is pulling us in all different directions. Truth is that with the guidance from the Lord we will follow the right path and stay the course. Blessings, Elfriede
