Unity

Hello everyone and welcome to Saturday. First and foremost I want to offer prayers for our friends in California. Another earthquake struck yesterday that was even more powerful than the first one. I dire to think what may be coming next but I would hope that all reading this would join me in prayer for a hedge of protection for all involved. (In other words, save the judgmental comments about the state.) Excellent!

Unity….I am convinced this is the only way we move forward at all. Now before you offer me Scripture about how Jesus came to bring a sword not peace, let me say two things.

  1. WE ARE NOT JESUS CHRIST. God and His Son and have their purpose and we have ours. Don’t know what that is? Read the Beatitudes; especially this one..”Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.”- Matthew 5:9
  2. Read number 1.

I see so much division, anger, and judgment coming from my fellow believers and it breaks my heart and the heart of Christ. I understand how evil the world has gotten and how tempting it is to want to attack back, but we will never bring people to Christ by acting like the world. We must be the difference, else how to we have any hope of fulfilling the Great Commission?

Or have we ourselves become instruments of the evil one and don’t care about saving souls anymore? Hmmm. How different are we then than who we oppose?

So where do we start? How about LISTENING for a change and stop talking. If we can connect with even one person and get them on the path to salvation, is it not worth it? Be still, listen, and offer love and comfort. Yes, offer Truth but first listen. Make sense?

Friends, I know the world is spiraling seemingly out of control, but we still have work to do. Let God be God and do the work WE were assigned. Stop confusing our role with His. Be the Light! Amen?

Love and Blessings,

David

Weight Loss

NO THESE ARE NOT MY FEET everyone lol! In fact, I don’t know if a glass scale would be such a good idea in my case. Anyways, hello everyone and I pray that each of you have a fantastic week and can enjoy some down time this weekend.

Well, here I go again! Trying for number 8,143 to be a successful one at losing this weight. This time I am trying Weight Watchers; now commonly known simply as WW. This would seem to be more in my favor than the rest because everything is done on a point system rather than telling me what I can and cannot eat.

How and what I eat are up to me as long as I don’t go over my point totals. Seems simple enough but as I have already found out, I will need to adjust alot for my creamer has already gotten me in trouble!

My message to all of you is simple today; if you are feeling down about your weight loss struggles, I feel you. I am the poster child for failing to lose weight. The thing is I keep getting back up! I keep fighting and I keep aiming to achieve this goal of getting healthy and being comfortable in my own skin.

See life isn’t necessarily about us winning or losing as the world sees it, but instead in how many times can you get back up after the Enemy knocks you down. I think it says more about someones character that can keep taking hits and keeps coming back for more, than someone who achieves instant success. It shows you can persevere, overcome, and triumph over anything! And while it might take longer to achieve your goals, once you do it will be permanent!

Friends, I ask for your prayers on this new path I am on. Slow and steady wins the race and after all is said and done I WILL be victorious! So will you!

Love and Blessings,

David

How We Treat People

HELLO EVERYONE AND WELCOME to another weekend! I hope that everyone made it through the work week in one piece and can enjoy some time of rest the next couple of days. Everyone ready for my message today? Let me know, I’ll wait…..

Ok, that’s enough time. So as usual, every week God seems to want to teach me something different. Which is fine but some weeks I’m like, “I haven’t even come close to mastering the other teaching yet”. But God is God and knows more than me so this week He changed it up again; focusing on how I treat people…

First off, you have to ask yourself, how do you view other people? Actually, I guess it starts off with, how do you view yourself? This is a vital first step because if you view yourself in a poor light, then typically you will view most others the same way. So, how do you view yourself? One that struggles with weight? One that struggles with addiction? One that struggles with your career?

Or do you view yourself as God sees you, which if you have given your life to Christ, is as a model of perfection! He no longer sees the sinful creature you used to be but instead a Child of Glory that He created and with whom He is pleased. So if God sees you that way, do you? Why not? I mean, after all, He did create you and lead you to salvation; do you think He really devalues your worth because you have gained some weight or struggle with a certain sin? Of course not! So again, why don’t you?

Now, once we come to terms with ourselves, that is where it really gets tough because God has called us to treat others, especially our enemies, better than we treat ourselves! So the only possible way to do that is to see others as God sees them. Not as Muslims or Democrats or Republicans or what ever they are, but as children of the Most High filled with potential to also be seen as perfect! Is this making any sense??

I see so much hatred against other people (yes I’m talking to you Christ-Follower as well). Yet we ourselves don’t follow the most basic of Scriptures…

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”- 1 Peter 2:9

If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them.  And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do that.  And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, expecting to be repaid in full.  But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked.  Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.– Luke 6:27-36

A few years ago in college I read a book that changed my perception on male/female relationships forever. It was called The Five Love Languages and in that book it talks about how as men we need to look at our wives with “pink” sunglasses and wives need to look at their husbands with “blue” sunglasses because of how different men and women look at the world. Friends, it is time we put on our “God sunglasses”. To treat others the way God has called us to is impossible without first understanding how God sees them.

In this world of hate and insulting, can we listen to the teachings of our Savior and spread some hope? Can we do that CHURCH? Stop the insults of your supposed enemy and spread God’s love; whether you think they deserve it or not! Peace be with you all…

Blessings and Love,

David

There Is Still Time

Joel 2:12 -“That is why the LORD says,”Turn to me now, while there is time. Give me your hearts. Come with fasting, weeping, and mourning.”

During this Catholic holiday of Lent, I wonder how many have actually given their hearts to the Lord Jesus? First things first friends..

Blessings,

David

Still Here?

So I have had my blog now for almost 2 years and I believe that many have dropped off the blogging train since then. So to get back to a more close knit community I am asking that if you still follow this blog to please comment below. I will be doing a little housecleaning and don’t want to miss anyone that is still here.

Thanks again everyone for your support and many blessings to you and your families.
