Have We Forgotten?

Have we forgotten our purpose?

Good morning everyone and welcome to the weekend! Another full week of fun and games at that thing we call life. Things are starting to look up here at the ole Fischer corral; my Bride is recovering nicely, I am over that silly head cold, we have food in our house, and we are warm from the cold. How much more could I ask for?

My family is blessed beyond imagination; hence my topic today “Have We Forgotten”? Forgotten what? I’m glad you asked!

“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

Matthew 22:36-40

Love…We have forgotten love. Sounds too simple right? I mean, God has called us to so much; how can our mission be so simple? Well, in this crazy world in which we find ourselves today, Satan has done a great job of clouding our minds to make us forget the importance of this passage above.

See if we don’t love God with all our heart, soul, and mind and then love each other as we would love ourselves, NOTHING else matters. Are you hearing me this morning? NOTHING. Why? Well people always forget the last part of this passage…ALL the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments. ALL of it!

Your ministry, your blogs, your career, your good intentions, NOTHING else matters if you first haven’t mastered these two simple acts. See people say things like, “We are called to judge”, “We are called to hold people accountable” and my personal favorite “I can love them but not hang around them”. Really?

Yes, we are called to do so much more; the New Testament is filled with teachings and commands that Jesus has for us; BUT if we haven’t taken these first two commands to heart and applied them, none of it matters. It’s like going from First Grade to Harvard without knowing how to read and write. It doesn’t work and neither does our actions when we try and live the Bible without love; that is the problem.

P.S. This includes the judgment or the "let's wait and see" attitude of people with checkered pasts professing their new found love for Christ. Be better saints!!

Love, not just any love, but the Agape Love that Christ showed us on the Cross. Can we do that? Can we stop the madness and just love God and others today? Once we master that, all the other things fall into line. Satan has also done a good job of making us forget where we came from; do you not remember what a wretch you were before Christ? Do you not understand that in fact you still would be if it were not for the saving Blood of Christ?

Step out in faith today friends and just love. God has shown you how, now just do it. Move beyond YOU and get back to what He has called us to do. Amen?

Agape Love my friends,

David

The Deception the World Craves

Deceived

Hello everyone….

I welcome you to a world that needs its eyes opened; a world that has so much waiting for it but desires not to have it; a world that wants to be deceived….

Joshua 1:8– “Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.”

I have come to a conclusion about the world today and it is not good. I used to think that people ultimately were craving to be good people and desired to be something bigger than themselves. I was wrong…..

People now are BEGGING to be deceived! They love to live against all of God’s plan and look for any way they can to avoid the Truth. So many “self-help” guru’s out there with the greatest of plans on how you can be successful and live a prosperous life but avoid the true way to do it. You think because you make 100k a year and have a beach house you are successful? Wrong, you have been deceived…And you love every minute of it.

I say deceived because if you truly knew what greatness was in store for you by giving yourself to Christ, you would run as far as you could from the things of this world, yet instead you cling onto these things like a baby does its mama. You try new skills; you cling on to your money and your ways, you pick and choose who you love, you hoard your earthly riches as if you could take them with you into eternity..oh you deceitful craving generation…

As I type this today I pray that your eyes would be opened; that God would do whatever is necessary to wake you up from the slumber of deception that you so crave every day. Right now the Enemy has you in chains, are you enjoying the slavery? Do you want true success and freedom? Give yourself to the Light, throw away the things of this world or suffer the result of your sinful cravings of deception.

As always the choice is yours.. chose wisely…your time is almost up….

Have You Been Crucified?

Galatians 5:24-“And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.”

Galations 5 24

Hello everyone; I hope your weekend is going magical! As I get closer to my Disney World vacation in October, you will slowly see many references to said mouse. Hope they don’t get too annoying but Mickey is a pretty big deal to the Fischer Family. 🙂

So, about my question, have you been crucified? Its really an important question because without it, you are 10 steps behind where you need to be; or should I say where you could be…See the Bible could not be more clear about our relationship with Christ and what is required. We do have to be careful because we still live in a sin filled world and will continue to sin in ways we don’t even realize until the resurrection. However in this case, intent means almost as much as the action itself.

Clearly God does not want us nailed to a Cross like Jesus did; that would negate the need for Jesus as then we could take care of our own sin problem. He does however want us to nail our passions and desires there instead. For example; how many times a day do you say, “I want this” or “my passion for life is this”. I do it, you do it, we all do it, but that is because we haven’t fully given ourselves to Him. Still clinging on to Lucifer’s realm with that last tiny bit of hope that we can stay in control. That way we can put Jesus on the shelf for the big things while still controlling our destiny. WRONG; its not the way it works folks.

I blame in part the Church; we preach this message of “I can do anything through Christ Jesus” which is very true but NOT from OUR passions and OUR desires but HIS! See, you can’t put the cart before the horse here; to achieve all that we are meant to achieve, our flesh (OUR passions and desires) must be crucified and then replaced with those of our Lord. THEN through Christ Jesus we can do all things. See the difference?

Makes me so mad when I hear this preached wrong for it is another form of bondage that most Christians can never escape from. Always wondering why they can never achieve what is “on their heart to do”. Why things never work out the way they want them to; this folks is why. You MUST crucify the flesh and all that it wants!

Friends, it comes in steps. So today I ask you, what is one passion or want that you can give to Lord to put on the Cross? Just one simple thing for God, can you do that? I assure you, He will replace that with something more fulfilling than anything you could have imagined……Have a great Saturday peeps!

Hold Tight

Hold Tight….

I WAS REALLY struggling on what to write today…There are so many things going on in this crazy head of mine I just couldn’t pinpoint one thing. Then I do what I always do in those situations and just asked God to reveal it to me.

Success! (See when you give things to God, the path is always more clear). so, He gave me this verse to which I will be writing today…

Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit”; whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. “- James 4:13-14

I guess it kind of hit me again yesterday when I went to the doctor for this nagging throat issue. It didn’t quite hurt as bad but still have trouble breathing so because I feel breathing is kind of essential to life, I went to have it checked out. Well, a few things came out of it…

  1. My tonsils are pretty swollen; so doc put me on a month of steroids to hopefully knock it out.
  2. My Sleep Apnea is still an issue to which she is sending me back to the specialist to probably get put back on the Darth Vader machine.
  3. My White Blood cell count has been elevated since last year so she ordered tests to see how that was doing. (Got the results back and while not as high in November, they are still on the high end)

So, all of this combined with all of the other medical stuff my family and I have been through these last couple of years, really got me thinking..(Scary right).

Got me thinking that as I approach the big 50, my life is most likely on the downswing. That I have lived more years than I have left which because I am a Christ-follower doesn’t trouble me but it does make me think that I and all of us should maybe be spending our time and focus on things that really matter versus giving that time to things that do not.

See, we are not promised tomorrow; heck I have no assurances that I will make it through this blog post, so why do we not focus on what we are promised, Right Now! That is one of the many reasons I am on this weight loss journey is I have things I want to do Right Now and I can’t because of these extra pounds. So I am doing something Right Now to effect that journey. I’m not living for the future, I am quite literally living to make it through today. Make sense?

Friends, stop the worry about tomorrow and surely forget about yesterday; one is gone forever and one may never come. Live for today! Hug that person you have been meaning to, tell them you love them, and treat them and yourself as if this is your last day on Planet Earth. How different would life be if everyone treasured and valued life to that extent….

To God be the Glory and….(looks like I made it though this blog post) 🙂

Love and Hugs,

David
