Please check out my new YouTube video for my perspective on fear! God bless!
It’s not about how much hustle and work you put in, it’s about the quality and purpose of your actions. Do they line up with God’s will and His plan? If not, we are no better than the chicken with its head cut off.
Have a blessed Tuesday!
Just deleted all my Social Media apps from my phone to try and get back some of my life. Anyone else ever do this?
Good morning friends! Well, for the first time since my procedure back in December, I am comfortable enough to show you a picture of the final result. For those of you that do not know my story, let me give you a quick synopsis.
For various reasons which I wont bore you with, I have struggled with dental problems my whole life. Most of those reasons are my own fault but nevertheless, I was a mess. Missing teeth, major loss of bone structure, and with it an enormous amount of pain. The hardest thing for me though was near the end where I had to look in the mirror every day and see this nasty face looking back at me. Those that love me never thought of me that way but I did and it was a constant psychological battle. Overweight, toothless, and seemingly without hope.
Then one day I decided that one way or another, the rest of my teeth were going to come out either on their own or the proper way. So, I asked my family to be on the lookout for a place that would help me. I couldn’t afford the 25k for permanent replacements, so I would need the remaining 18 teeth I had left pulled, then dentures. (I’m only 49 so the thought of dentures was frustrating). One day, my son Josh told my wife Marcy about this place called Afdent Dental. They seemed pretty reputable, so my wife made the consultation appointment.
They confirmed what I already knew that there was no saving the teeth I had left and that because of my artificial hip, it was important to get all that out so that infection didn’t make its way to the hip. (Which would have opened up a very bad set of circumstances). So they gave me the estimate of what extractions and new dentures would cost and after praying and discussing it with my wife, I decided to pull the trigger.
I must stop here and say that I knew from the minute I walked into Afdent that this place was going to be good. As you can imagine I was deathly afraid of dentists and they were super nice and made me feel extremely comfortable. Never passed judgment on my situation, they just genuinely wanted to help me. I also never felt pressured like most places do as they are just out to take your money. So, if you are struggling with this and need a place to turn to, I HIGHLY recommend Afdent Dental.
So, on December 30, 2020, I had the 18 teeth that were left pulled and the healing process began. I will say that overall the procedure was not as bad as I had feared, but there was quite a bit of pain because of my bone loss and all the filing down of bone they had to do to get all the infection out. Through prayers and the help of my friend Norco, I was able to return to work the next day and start healing up. For the next 4 weeks, I went back and forth to the dentist to check my healing and get my mouth molded for my replacements. (In some ways that was just as painful as the extractions, but again, they were very understanding and patient with me).
Finally on February 2, I came home with the finished product which you can see in the picture above. I will say that having a full set of teeth in my mouth for the first time in over 20 years has been a challenge. At first I wanted to just throw those suckers in the garbage and give up. But, I was determined to fight through the pain and frustration to achieve this part of my transformation.
I will say I feel I am ahead of schedule as I have been able to eat things such as steak, chicken, and pasta. (In very small bites). It also has helped with weight loss as since December 30th I have lost 13 pounds. It simply is so much work right now to cut up my food and discover this new way of chewing, that my portions have decreased three fold. This is truly helpful as portion control has always been my issue.
So, this is my story. I have a “reline” visit in May and then 2 more after that this year before the final liner is put in my dentures. Today though, for the first time in I can’t remember how long, I am pain free in my mouth and can look in the mirror now without total disgust. I can speak to others without the wondering if they are only seeing the missing and nasty teeth. While I still have work to be done, (and I do have my struggle bus days), I am pleased with the first phase of my transformation and I look forward to the days and months to come.
God bless everyone and thank you for reading,
Have a blessed Friday my friends. I will be posting a new entry this weekend. For now, study this passage and use it to guide your heart today.
Good Saturday Morning friends! I did it! Two Saturday’s in a row I am writing in my blog. I really want to get back to writing more but baby steps ya know? I hope and pray everyone had a good week and is able to take a couple of days of down time and relax.
This week coming up is going to be a big one for yours truly; more to come on that. 🙂
Come, all you who are thirsty,
come to the waters;
and you who have no money,
come, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk
without money and without cost.
Why spend money on what is not bread,
and your labor on what does not satisfy?
Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good,
and you will delight in the richest of fare.– Isaiah 55:1-2
As I was reading my morning devotional, I knew that I had to write about this passage. Today, more than ever, we need to be focused on what is truly important. For so long, we have been focused on things such as money, careers, “the hustle”, and yes even the nasty cuss word right now politics. All the while we have pretty much put God on the shelf.
Oh yes we will do our morning devotionals, go to church, heck we might even fill our social media posts with timely and feel good messages. But are we pursuing Him? What are we pursuing in His place? Do we have any wonder why we always feel frustrated with our lives?
Today I am here to tell you that God wants us to pursue Him full-time! Not just for a few minutes every morning, but in all times and in all circumstances. As the above passage shows us, why spend all of our pursuit on things that only provide temporary strength? Why spend our money on things that will bring us no joy (or only temporary joy). Pursue the things of God and He will provide “the finest food” and all for FREE. (At least for us- It was not free for Jesus)
One final example, for all you gym rats out there? How much time did you put in to making your body healthier and looking better? (Not that there is anything wrong with exercise and eating right-save the hate mail). Now, how much time did you put into making your relationship with God healthier and stronger? I think for all of us the answer is that we spent more time on situation one. And yet we still wonder why we stay frustrated and never satisfied……Making sense?
Friends, I’m not saying to stay in your prayer closet 24/7 and not live your life (although these days that isn’t such a bad idea). We still have to work, exercise, and do the things God has called us to do, but we can still do all those things for HIM. We can make sure that we are not in it for OURSELVES but for HIM. You know who else was all about themselves? Lucifer; and we all see how that turned out….
Start today pursuing our first real love; Jesus Christ. Give Him your all and so all things through Him. Amen? I pray you have a blessed day and please, leave your thoughts and comments below. I would love to hear from you! Also, if your a Twitter peep; follow me at @Gods_Warrior91.
In His Glory,
Good morning! Its me again! I have done a horrible job or writing this last year…Not totally sure why other than I am a creature of habit and simply got out of the habit of doing it. Its been a long year with multiple personal issues hitting myself and my family; so it’s probably that as well. Anyways, I hope many of you are still with me and see this, if not, then I’m getting this out of my system at the very least…..
We don’t get it……Get what you ask? Well I could pick a bunch of things but for the purpose of this writing it is our current climate in America. Let’s summarize things shall we?
- We just let the best President in the last 50 years get voted out of office. (No, it was not “stolen”)
- We let a man who supports the killing of the unborn and does nothing but cater to the progressive, atheistic, left take his place.
- Many of us put our worship into a movement called “Q” and was told to “trust the plan”. Yes because a real plan to keep President Trump in office against the Deep State would be put in full view on the internet for all to see.
- While COVID is real, we have let the Government close our businesses and make us more dependent on them than ever.
- We forgot about Jesus…..
Forgot about Jesus? Yep and that is where we come back to my title header; We don’t get it….We don’t get the fact that no matter who we put in the White House, if we don’t get back to Jesus and His biblical principles, it will never matter. Did President Trump champion many things for the Christian community such as Pro-Life laws? Yes, but what did we do as citizens? Nothing; because we “trusted the plan”. (By the way, the “plan” resembled something more like what you would see in Revelation but that is for another day).
And so here we are with a new President that has one foot in the grave and a VP that is just biding her time until Congress can pass the 25th to have him removed. Folks, we don’t get it….This has NOTHING to do with politics and EVERYTHING to do with Spiritual Warfare. Can you really not see this?
We are really good at being “keyboard warriors”, but what are we doing in the real world to get back to where we should be? We put all our money on Donald Trump and friends the house won. No matter how good his intentions, he is one man, we make up millions of people that claim to worship Christ; yet we let Trump lead and not Christ. So, here we are…..
So what do we do? Well it would be easy to throw our hands up and just wait for the Lord’s return but is that really what God would want? Let me give you what I believe GOD’s PLAN is…
- Individually repent of our sinful ways and ask God to lead us once again.
- Stop blaming the other side; someone needs to be the adult in the room and if we as Christians can’t be that adult we are in trouble.
- Speak up on what you are for, everyone knows what you are against.
- LISTEN, yes even to the most atheistic liberal. Jesus never argued anyone into the Kingdom and neither will you.
- Love, yes even your enemies. (Jesus didn’t say love your enemies you feel like loving).
- Tell someone your personal testimony about how Jesus changed your life (heck, even ask them if they have ever heard the Good News)
There are alot more I could list but this is a good start. Take some time today and pray about how God would use you. I’m not talking about violence and uprising but true Spiritual Battle. Are we willing to do that or are we just going to wait for the next politician to save us?
Are we really Christ Followers, or not.
The next few months and years will reveal tell the story. Biden may be in the White House but God almighty is on the Great Throne. Who has the more power? Who do you think wins this battle?
The choice is yours; time to decide.
Well hello everyone! It’s been a while! Not sure how many will even be reading this as suffice it to say I have not been consistently writing anymore…It’s Going To Be Biblical!
Be an encourager today and leave your worries at the Cross. Have a great Tuesday my friends! Thanks for sticking with me!
