Why Not Me?

DO YOU EVER ASK YOURSELF the above question? Why not me? The subject matter relating to that question could be on a range of subjects; Career, Family, Faith, but for me its for something different and maybe you can relate; my weight…

I haven’t always been heavy; when I was a kid I was relatively normal when it came to my weight. In fact, once I got through those awkward teenage years, I looked pretty good. That really was a miracle though because my Mother nor my Father cooked so pretty much my whole childhood was Burger King, McDonalds, or Wendy’s for dinner. The only time I got a somewhat healthy dinner was when I would visit my Grandparents house. Even then though it wasn’t really healthy, just not a bunch of processed junk.

So fast forward to today; as I sit here I weigh a pathetic 385 pounds. I just stopped doing the Keto thing because all it was doing was making me sick and I wasn’t losing anything anyway. One thing I have definitely noticed is that at the ripe old age of 47, losing weight has become much more difficult. There was a time where I could just cut out the crap foods and the weight would fall off; not so much any more.

People tell me all the time; “You just have to want it bad enough!” Well let me tell you, I do. I don’t enjoy looking like a walking watermelon and having every day be in pain all over. I try to hide the pain I’m in but even there I am starting to fail.

I watch these videos where people have lost tremendous amounts of weight, and for a brief moment I will get motivated, then I fall back again. So I ask myself this morning; why not me? Why is it that I always lose the motivation to keep going? Is it because of my love of the taste of food? Is it something else? I don’t know, but the frustration level has reached new heights. I am almost at the point of just saying; “Just forget it David, you’ll always be fat and probably die of a heart attack”. Trust me though, that is NOT what I want…

Friends, I told you there would be days where what I write would not be very motivational; today is one of those days. I just needed to write my feelings out as maybe that will help. Something has to give, that is all I know. For this I place it all in God’s hands and whatever happens will happen.

Thanks for reading everyone,

David

There Is Still Time

Radically Saved

Joel 2:12 -“That is why the LORD says,”Turn to me now, while there is time. Give me your hearts. Come with fasting, weeping, and mourning.”

During this Catholic holiday of Lent, I wonder how many have actually given their hearts to the Lord Jesus? First things first friends..

Blessings,

David

Who Determines What Is Evil?

I wrote a long post about this once before but I see the need to write a little bit about it again. I ask these questions that the great movie The Shack asked towards the end;

“Who determines what is evil?”

“Who determines what is unclean?”

“Who determines what is good?”

I can’t stress enough to you my friends that the answer to that question is not you or I but only God. For example; I could blurt out the Fbomb and it be less evil than something you said because of its context. Just because a word or action seems evil or unclean to you or I doesn’t make it so.

Instead we should be focusing on ourselves. A lesson that I am continually learning. And while most times I fail, God still reminds me in His small, still voice that it is He Who determines good and evil; it is only up to me to become more like Him every day. It is up to God to judge others and their actions no matter how evil or unclean they may seem to me.

Hope you all had a great Hump Day!

David

Prayer!

Good morning everyone and Happy Sunday! Thank you all again for the outpouring of support you all showed yesterday as I take this ministry/blog in a new direction. In these times I really am going to strive to point out the positives found through Christ, rather than focus on the failings of the church. While those issues are still very important, even more important than that is to show others the hope found in Christ. Amen?

Prayer…something that I feel is both taken for granted and not used enough. When I was a Youth Pastor in Florida, I used to tell my kids a couple of things about their walk with Jesus…

1. The Bible is not just another book. As a believer in Christ, something supernatural happens every time you read His Word. You may not realize it at the time but it does.

2. That Prayer is the most powerful weapon we have against the Enemy. It is also the most powerful device we have in our relationship with Jesus. It takes us right to God with no “middle man” needed.

Here is the thing; we talk a lot about prayer, we say to others “you are on my prayer list”, or “I have prayed about it” concerning a direction in our life. But have we really? And if we have are we “Praying without ceasing” as the Scriptures instruct us to? I know it is hard because most times we don’t see the direct effects of our prayers but make no mistake they do have impact.

I offer this up to you all because I see so much despair, depression, anxiety and we want relief from all of it, yet the most powerful tool we have in overcoming these situations we too often ignore. Prayer should always be the first option in ANY situation we face! Amen?

With that said, if you are needing prayer, please leave a comment below or you can contact me personally. Feel free to send me a text to 269-363-0932 and simply let me know who you are and what you are needing prayer for. Also for those of you overseas I have this great app called WhatsApp that we can have conversations free of charge as well. Just download the app to your phone and look me up by using the phone number above. Thanks again everyone and enjoy your Sunday!

Love and hugs,

David
