Sin- Let’s Be Honest

sin2

Good Thursday Morning! Today I decided to dig a little deeper on this whole Sin thing. Previous discussions have been a basic overall of the subject and today I would like to get a little more to the root of the problem, shall we? Let’s Roll!

So, we discussed that Adam and Eve committed the first Sin by eating of the Tree of Knowledge that God had forbidden that they eat from. We also know they, like us today, were tempted by the Enemy of God and Humanity. There is no disputing Lucifer was there “reasoning” with them on why they should go against God there; and here is where it gets interesting…..

See, so often I talk about personal responsibility. No matter the situation, there is ALWAYS two sides. One side may have more of a part in the overall discussion, but there are always at least two players in every game. The area of Sin is no different. Did Lucifer force Eve to take the Fruit from the Tree and eat it? Was she threatened in any way that if she did not eat, Lucifer would strike her down and/or kill her husband? Well, there has been no Biblical version that would lead me to believe this was part of the discussion, so what does that mean? It means that while the old Angel of Light did tempt Eve, there was no coercion or threats made. Hence, Eve……..WANTED to eat the Fruit. She WANTED to give in to temptation, and she WANTED to disobey God. Why? Not totally sure about that, hopefully someday we will get to ask her but the simple Truth that she WANTED to Sin remains.

How does this tie into us? Well, for me it goes back again to the personal responsibility portion of our discussion. In any situation, if we are to get better or overcome an obstacle in our lives, we must first see what part we played so we can get better! Ignoring our role in our troubles is a classic denial move that never works out or heals us so we can move on. Its far too easy to blame someone else for our pain and ignore the role we played in allowing it to happen. So, where Sin is concerned, let’s be honest about it. Yes, Lucifer still tempts us, but just as in the Garden, he does not have the power to FORCE us to do it, we CHOOSE to do it. Which leads us to the hard Truth that deep down we WANT to Sin, we WANT to give in to temptation, and yes we WANT to disobey God.

Kind of harsh you say? Maybe, but think about your temptations for a minute and see if I’m wrong. Lust, alcoholism, drugs, etc, they all make you temporarily “feel” good so when the rubber meets the road are we REALLY wanting to get rid of that feeling? Only when we get to the point where we are willing to be honest about our Sin can we overcome it! (This is where the Good Part comes in). This is so essential because the next step is realizing that no matter how those things make you feel, Jesus will give you a feeling never experienced before and will make you not desire those things that tempt you anymore! Is it all starting to make sense now?

Mission

God was willing to give a Perfect World to Adam and Eve if they would just obey that one rule. For reasons that we still don’t totally understand, the temptation to have more was just too much for Eve to overcome. Her inner desire was to have MORE; what is yours today? Can we stop pushing all the blame on Lucifer and start taking some personal responsibility in all of this? Once we understand that at its core, Sin is OUR fault and OUR problem, we can turn that over to Jesus and let Him bury our Sin at the Cross of Calvary so we can be set free! Amen? In this world of everything is everyone else’s fault and just do whatever you want if it makes you happy, can we at least acknowledge our role in all of this and take the first step in TRULY overcoming Sin in our lives? Jesus is offering you all of eternity; are you willing to accept? Just like our sister Eve, you have a choice; that choice begins with the Truth. What is your Truth today? Give it to God and watch Him replace that Sin with Glory!

David

Am I Good Enough?

**In case you missed this Sunday**

Good enough

Hello again everyone! How was your Saturday? Mine was pretty good. Did some blogging, thought more about the book that I want to write, got a little exercise, all in all a pretty good start to the weekend. As I spent some time interacting with people here and on Twitter I noticed something that bothered me; heck it bothers me about myself but the thing about social media is that you see some raw emotions that you probably wouldn’t see otherwise. Knowing that you will probably never see the people you are writing to can make you a little bolder in what you say. The thing that bothered me is this…people just don’t think they are good enough for anything….

I can’t come up with enough adjectives to tell you how wrong this feeling is…I feel it too my friends but with every fiber of my being it is a lie straight from the pit of Hell itself. (Yes, Hell does exist, sorry). Your Enemy will do everything in His power to convince both the believer in Christ and the unbeliever how pathetic and worthless they are but it is simply not true my friends. How do I know? Because if I have learned nothing about God, it is that everything He says is true, perfect, and reliable. So when He says this, I believe it to be true:

You are fearfully and wonderfully made“- (Psalm 139:14).

So if the One that made you thinks your wonderful, who are you to say otherwise? You are not only degrading yourself, but the One who made you. You are in essence saying that God is not perfect and somehow created a faulty product. Remember this one thing that many people who preach on sin forget….God made us perfect, WE screwed it all up and embraced sin. God did not create us with sin, we headed straight for it and embraced it! Still do today! Want some good news though? He provided a way to get that perfection back both here and in the life to come!

My friends, it is so evident that people are still searching for that “thing” to complete them. Sex, drugs, validation through social media, suicide, are all ways that people are screaming out that they want to feel loved and worthy. Even those that are cocky about themselves and think they are the best thing since sliced bread are searching for these things; they just put on a good mask….

Stop searching..your Creator has had His eye on you from the beginning. You are loved, you are worthy, you are special. Without Jesus Christ, however, you will never know just how much. Without becoming that New Creation, the Veil of lies will stay firmly upon your eyes and you will never truly understand the love that is possible. Are you ready to stop searching? Invite God and His Son Jesus Christ to be the Savior of your life; tell the world and Satan you have had enough of the lies and are ready for Truth! Do it today….

Love and Blessings,

David

Don’t Take It For Granted

Good morning again! As promised, I am back! Had a nice breakfast with my bride and now have my coffee in hand and ready to type. The picture above is one that was taken nine days after I got home from surgery with Marcy and my Grandson Alan. He had Grandparents Day that day and surgery or not I was determined to be there. Love these two so much and it go me thinking about the topic for today; don’t take it for granted…..

As I said, this picture was taken nine days after coming home from my hip replacement surgery. Thinking back it is amazing the things I couldn’t do that I did take for granted such as:

1. Peeing!- Not sure if you all have been under or not but one of the things that happens is EVERYTHING shuts down. So the day of surgery after I woke up, I felt like I had to pee but could not! That has to be one of the most frustrating things I have ever experienced. Especially when the threat of them sticking a catheter up there if you don’t pee in time….Then once I did I had zero control over it which was so embarrassing I can’t even describe it…….

2. Walking!- Because they literally removed my leg from my hip I had to learn how to walk again. I mean my brain knew how but my legs had to be “re-trained”. Still seven weeks later I’m not 100 percent but its another thing I feel most of us take for granted.

3. Taking a Shower!- Especially at first this was an awful experience. I needed help to get into the tub, was scared of falling and messing up my incision, and I really couldn’t bend my leg so it was a long, hard road back from that. Today I jumped for joy as I needed no help from any device, turned around in the shower, and was able to bend my legs up so I could dry them. Seems like something small but when you can’t do it, it’s HUGE!

4. Sleep!- Until just a couple of days ago I was getting no more than 5 hours of sleep a night and even that was only 2 hours at a time or so. It’s hard to function in life much less heal from a major surgery when you can’t sleep. Two days ago though I had a breakthrough and slept for EIGHT HOURS! Eight hours of heavenly bliss and only up a couple of times to pee which was amazing. I had so much energy, I did some housework which I haven’t been able to do in two months (hopefully my wife was happy) 🙂

There are so many more thing I could get into but these are the main ones. Today, learn from me and don’t take anything for granted. If you got up this morning and was able to shower and walk around, you have been blessed beyond imagination! That is reason enough to SMILE and LAUGH!! Love you all and continued prayers as I get ever closer to a full recovery. 🙂

Grace and Love,

David
