Meekness

James 1:20-โ€œFor the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of Godโ€.

I think we all could learn from this passage. God does not want or need us to be forceful and angry with people concerning the Gospel but instead with love and meekness.

Loyalty

Good morning friends!

James 4:8 -โ€œCome close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world.โ€

Keep in mind friends, James is talking to believers here. Is your loyalty divided?

More to come,

Prayer!

Good morning everyone and Happy Sunday! Thank you all again for the outpouring of support you all showed yesterday as I take this ministry/blog in a new direction. In these times I really am going to strive to point out the positives found through Christ, rather than focus on the failings of the church. While those issues are still very important, even more important than that is to show others the hope found in Christ. Amen?

Prayer…something that I feel is both taken for granted and not used enough. When I was a Youth Pastor in Florida, I used to tell my kids a couple of things about their walk with Jesus…

1. The Bible is not just another book. As a believer in Christ, something supernatural happens every time you read His Word. You may not realize it at the time but it does.

2. That Prayer is the most powerful weapon we have against the Enemy. It is also the most powerful device we have in our relationship with Jesus. It takes us right to God with no “middle man” needed.

Here is the thing; we talk a lot about prayer, we say to others “you are on my prayer list”, or “I have prayed about it” concerning a direction in our life. But have we really? And if we have are we “Praying without ceasing” as the Scriptures instruct us to? I know it is hard because most times we don’t see the direct effects of our prayers but make no mistake they do have impact.

I offer this up to you all because I see so much despair, depression, anxiety and we want relief from all of it, yet the most powerful tool we have in overcoming these situations we too often ignore. Prayer should always be the first option in ANY situation we face! Amen?

With that said, if you are needing prayer, please leave a comment below or you can contact me personally. Feel free to send me a text to 269-363-0932 and simply let me know who you are and what you are needing prayer for. Also for those of you overseas I have this great app called WhatsApp that we can have conversations free of charge as well. Just download the app to your phone and look me up by using the phone number above. Thanks again everyone and enjoy your Sunday!

Answer!

Hello again! So I asked for you guys to ask me any question you wanted and I only got ONE lol. So Ryan, the floor is all yours with this question that you asked….

“What is the best advice you could give to another Christian married couple? I believe you guys just had your 27th anniversary if I remember right! You have been at it a decade longer than us, so I would love to hear the wisdom from that experience! Thanks for the open invite to ask something too! God bless you guys!”

Well Ryan there is a lot involved in making a marriage last as long as ours has but my advice contains just a few simple steps:

1. Always put God first- I know it sounds like a default answer but in the beginning we did not do this and it was a disaster. So always put Him first!

2. Always try and look at things through the lenses of your spouse. Despite the crap the world dishes out, men and women are very different creatures and are wired completely different. Do as the Bible teaches and put your spouse before yourself. While we may not truly ever understand our spouse, it helps a lot to try and put ourselves in their frame of mind on things!

3. Finally, always make time for just the two of you! My Bride and I ALWAYS have date night. Usually its on Friday and sometimes its even McDonalds and Netflix, sometimes its s nice restaurant but regardless we always make that time for each other. Even with children, this is a vital step to staying in touch with each other.

There are many other things but these are my top 3. I would also say that marriage is WORK, HARD WORK; work worth every minute of it.! Because Ryan was nice enough to offer his question, I have provided the link to his blog below. Anyone else have questions? Let me know!
